Programs of Study

        Lion's Den Martial Arts Association serves as an umbrella for both the International Combat SaJaDo Union and the SaJaDo / HonHabMooDoKwan. An individual must join Lion's Den Martial Arts in order to study SaJaDo or any other martial style offerred within the curriculum. Under the SaJaDo/HonHabMooDoKwan program one may study and obtain rank in Tang Soo Do, Hapkido, Kobudo or Jiu-Jitsu at one of our affiliate schools or through home study via video.  Under the International Combat SaJaDo Union one may study and obtain rank in SaJaDo. Under the SaJaDo program many activities are offerred such as: 

Kickin Cubs

       Kickin Cubs consists of students ranging from age 4 to 8. This program is to orient young kids to the martial arts with basic martial arts training. The program consists of 3 belt levels : White, Yellow and Blue.

SaJaDo

       SaJaDo is taught to students starting at age 9 and up. The SaJaDo curriculum is a blend of TangSooDo, TaeKwonDo, Hapkido, Kobudo, HanKukMuKiDo, Jiu-Jitsu, KumDo, and ShimSooDo. Students are taught some of the finer points of each of these arts at different belt levels.

Hapkido/Weaponry Program

       Hapkido is translated to the way of coordinated power and it is a self-defense art which uses an opponent's force against themself. The Weaponry program is a mixture of Kobudo which is traditional Okinawan Weaponry and HanKukMuKiDo which is Korean Weaponry. The two programs are taught in unison to provide a well-rounded open and closed hand fighting system.

Samurai Saturdays

       The Samurai Saturday program consists of Jiu-Jitsu and Swordfighting. The Jiu-Jitsu program is a mixture of Japanese and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the Swordfighting program is a mixture of sword practice with wooden swords and live blades. Students are required to be atleast age 13 in order to train in this curriculum.

Tournament Team

       The Lion's Den recruits students to compete in tournaments every September. The Lion's Den competes in the AMAA Sport Karate League which comprises Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The AMAA season starts in October each year and runs through September. Competition consists of forms, sparring and weapons.

Demonstration Team

       The Lion's Den each year recruits around 15 to 20 students to perform in demonstrations. The Lion's Den performs demonstrations at local schools, festivals and parades. Demo team members perform forms, self-defense, weapons, and board-breaking.

Summer Camp

      Every June a Karate Summer Camp is offerred for students to enrich themselves more in the martial arts. The intense one week training camp consists of 5 eleven hour days of many different martial arts disciplines. The week is intense but usually is capped off with an enjoyable fun park trip.

Lifetime Members' Club

     Lifetime member programs include the Blackbelt Club and the Masters Club. Each one of these clubs is based on a lifetime membership and offers many discounts on: monthly tuition fees, equipment, supplies, test fees and certifications. These programs are also based on a training and ranking timeline where eventually the student's membership is free for life.

          Lion's Den Martial Arts Association offers many different types of memberships in order to rank in our organization. We offer individual, charter and rank recognition memberships.
